Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War had ended and all slaves were free. Join Juneteenth Lehigh Valley for a weeklong celebration this year across Bethlehem, Easton, and Allentown. Programming will include flag raisings, food experiences, a parade, music, art and more.

About Juneteenth LV
The mission of Juneteenth Lehigh Valley (JLV) is to acknowledge the end of slavery in the United States, to celebrate the fortitude of African Americans who endured the ills of slavery, and to educate the general population specifically younger cohorts about the significance of this day.
The event aims to contribute to the Lehigh Valley’s various festivals that highlight the diverse, equitable, and inclusive community where all its citizens can thrive. To commemorate the end of slavery – Juneteenth, June 19, 1865 by offering a Valley-wide annual celebration and educational experience. The event promotes the historical information of the day and includes contributions from other communities whose foundation embraces abolitionism. This family-friendly event houses various activities and performances that uniformly projects a “Love ALL of America” theme. The event also provides a platform for contemporary expressions of celebration and pride.
Juneteenth Lehigh Valley has been supported by the Air Products Foundation, Journeying Toward Freedom grant program which was established by the Pennsylvania Tourism Office in partnership with Voices Underground, PBS39/91.3 WLVR, Highmark Wholecare and Highmark, PPL, ADP Processing, B. Braun, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), DeSales University, Lehigh University, Moravian University, Nazareth Music Center, Muhlenberg College, Crayola, LLC, Just Born, West Ward Association, AARP, and in collaboration with civic organizations such as, NAACP – Easton Branch.
