What is Lehigh Valley Zoo?

Lehigh Valley Zoo is a 29-acre wildlife sanctuary home to roughly 340 animals from 130 different species, including both common domestic animals and rare, endangered species. The zoo is an interactive destination providing visitors of all ages the chance to connect with wildlife and discover the importance of conservation.

You can quickly circle through the zoo in just under an hour, but we recommend talking to the zoo keepers and participating in the interactive exhibits, which will take around 3 hours to complete.

  • Arrive Early: The animals tend to be most active in the morning, so arriving early gives you the best chance to see them in motion.
  • Comfortable Shoes: Be prepared for plenty of walking by wearing shoes that keep you comfortable while you explore.
  • Check the Event Calendar: The zoo hosts a variety of exciting events and unique experiences throughout the year–check their calendar before your visit to see what’s in store.
  • Nature Preserve Exit: After exploring the zoo, take the scenic exit through the nature preserve to spot bison and elk in their natural habitat.

New Children's Activity Area Opening in 2027

In Spring 2025, Lehigh Valley Zoo is beginning a major renovation to create a new Children's Activity Area to enhance animal habitats and engage and inspire guests of all ages. Set to open in 2027, the Children's Activity Area will feature a splash pad, concession stand, playground, firepits, education center, and family barnyard.
