About Saucon Valley Country Club

The historic Saucon Valley County Club arose out of the post-World War I boom in Bethlehem, at a time when Bethlehem Steel Corporation dominated the economic life of the city. In 1920, sixteen business leaders were given the go-ahead from Lehigh County Court to transform farmland lying alongside Saucon Creek into “golf links and other facilities used for athletic sports.” Golf architect Herbert Strong was selected to design the 18-hole course. For two years, Strong dutifully planned every hill and valley of the former meadowlands and transformed it by planting nearly 10,000 trees. Over the years, Saucon Valley County Club has grown from an 18-hole course and a clubhouse to become one of the largest private clubs in North America, encompassing 850 acres, 60 holes of golf, an 18th century guest house and three world-class golf courses: the Old Course, Grace Course, and Weyhill Course.

Par, Yardage & Course Rating

Saucon Valley Country Club (Old Course) will be set up at 7,028 yards and will play to a par of 36-35–71. The yardage for each round of the championship will vary due to course setup and conditions. Based on the course setup for the championship, the USGA Course Rating™ is 74.9 and the Slope Rating® is 141.
