Founded in 1927, Civic Theatre of Allentown is one of the Lehigh Valley’s longest-running cultural institutions and a premier destination for live entertainment, theatre education, and cinematic experiences. Located in Allentown’s West End Theatre District, Civic Theatre’s Historic 19th Street Theatre and Theatre514 spaces have been inspiring, enlightening, and entertaining audiences through live performance, cinema, and creative experiences for nearly a century.

More than a theatre, Civic is a vibrant community hub where artists, audiences, and students come together. From acclaimed live productions in the historic 19th Street Theatre to intimate performances, films, and creative events in Theatre514, Civic’s black box space, the organization offers year-round opportunities to experience and create art. Civic also proudly operates Civic Theatre School, the region’s first established training program for young actors, nurturing the next generation of performers and storytellers.

Following a major restoration in 2018, the 19th Street Theatre reopened in 2019, preserving its historic beauty while creating a modern gathering place for the Lehigh Valley’s arts community.
Civic Theatre has helped launch and inspire generations of artists, including nationally recognized alumni such as Christine Taylor, Dane DeHaan, Oakes and Winslow Fegley, Daniel Roebuck, Michaela Conlin, Tim Heidecker, and Amanda Seyfried, along with countless educators, creatives, and community leaders.
