Museum and a Movie: Tending Nature: Indigenous Land Stewardship
Overview
NCHGS’s Museum and a Movie series showcases independent, international, and historical short films relevant to our museum exhibits and the communities we serve.
November 2025’s feature is “Tending Nature: Indigenous Land Stewardship,” a 2021 film that features multiple perspectives and voices from Indigenous communities across California who are striving to keep the practices of their heritage alive.
From coming-of-age rituals, seasonal food harvests, basket weaving and jewelry making, the documentary shares how traditional practices can be protected and maintained as a way of life for future generations.
“Tending Nature” is approximately one hour in length and will be shown at 1:00, and 2:00, and 3:00 PM in the John R. Austen Auditorium of the Sigal Museum.
