Overview
Get in the spirit with the Historic Bethlehem Live Advent Calendar in downtown Bethlehem, PA! The only one of its kind in the country, the Live Advent Calendar is fun for parents and children alike.
The calendar kicks off on December 1 and takes place nightly at 5:30 p.m. until December 23 at the Sun Inn Courtyard.
Shops, restaurants, and community organizations of the Historic District provide a special treat to Live Advent visitors. Crowds can reach up to 300 people each night, so be sure to get there early for the festive 10-15 minute program! The Live Advent Calendar is sponsored by merchants of the Downtown Bethlehem Association (DBA), in partnership with Touchstone Theater and Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites (HBMS).
The idea of the “Live Advent Calendar” is from the tradition of Advent Calendars or Christmas Countdown Calendars for children and families during the holidays. With a traditional calendar, there are a set number of “doors” to open each day as Christmas draws near and a treat or message each day.
The Historic DBA Advent Calendar is life-sized with a special person to hand out the treat daily at 5:30 PM. Each day a different local business provides surprise entertainment.
