Free Summer Sundays at the Moravian Historical Society

Overview

The Moravian Historical Society invites families to Free Summer Sundays throughout August! Enjoy free admission to the Museum while children explore life during the American Revolution through hands-on crafts and activities led by knowledgeable instructors.

Activities take place from 1:00–3:30 p.m., with the Museum and Museum Store open from 1:00–4:00 p.m. While everyone is welcome, some projects may require parental assistance and are best suited for children ages 6 and older. All activities are held on the lawn of the Moravian Historical Society, weather permitting.

August 2: Paper Marbling – Discover the art and science of paper marbling as you create colorful designs once used to decorate colonial books and help protect early American paper money from counterfeiters.

August 9: Printmaking – Carve and print your own custom stamp while learning how newspapers, pamphlets, and political cartoons helped spread revolutionary ideas throughout the colonies.

August 16: Colonial Sewing – Stitch your own colonial-style pocket or haversack and learn how men and women carried everyday essentials during the 18th century.

August 23: Colonial Writing & Wax Seals – Write a letter with a quill pen, create an envelope, and finish it with a decorative wax seal just as Revolutionary War leaders did when communicating across the colonies.

August 30: Corn Husk Dolls – Craft a traditional corn husk doll while discovering the origins of this timeless toy, first created by Native American tribes and later adopted by colonial families.

The Moravian Historical Society Museum is located at 214 E. Center St. in Nazareth and is open daily from 1:00–4:00 p.m.
