J. Birney Crum Stadium
Overview
For the 49th Year, the Drum Corps International Eastern Classic Championship will fill J. Birney Crum Stadium with sound of music and pageantry.
20+ Competing Drum Corps from all over the United States will be in town for this major event on Friday, July 31st and Saturday, August 1st. The Competition starts each night at 7:00 PM with gates opening at 5:30 PM.
The event in Allentown is one of three major Regional shows on the competition circuit. With Allentown being the last major stop as all of the Drum Corps will then be off to Indianapolis for the National Championship.
DCI East attracted over 18,500 spectators to the Stadium in Allentown in 2023!
The Championship is a two night event, with half of the competitors performing each night. Each 11-minute performance combines music, marching, and special effects. The music may be classical, jazz, Broadway, or anything else in between. Poetry in motion describes the constant movement of the musicians, accompanied by the color and majesty of flags, sabers, rifles, and numerous props. The members spend their summers traveling the country on buses and sleeping on gym floors.
