Overview
The Sounds of Hollywood, a joint concert by the Allentown Band, Ronald Demkee, Conductor and the Salvation Army New York Staff Band, Derek Lance, Bandmaster, benefiting the victims of the 2025 California wildfires in a program expressing strength and resilience. Proceeds will be donated to benefit victims of the California Wildfires, through programs established by the Salvation Army. The Allentown Band starts the program with Hooray for Hollywood arranged by Warren Barker that includes Tara’s Theme; 42nd Street; Born Free; Merrily We Roll Along; The High And The Mighty; Theme From A Summer Place; Swanee; Days Of Wine And Roses; Theme From Lawrence Of Arabia; As Time Goes By and Hooray For Hollywood. Patricia Risley shares several Streisand hits- People from Funny Girl, Memories from The Way We Were, and Don’t Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl. The band then continues with John Williams' Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan and Make Our Garden Grow from Leonard Bernstein's CANDIDE. The New York Staff Band will perform a thirty minute program to be decided, followed by the combined bands in a finale consisting of, Peter Graham's Shine as the Light, William Himes' Amazing Grace, and John Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever.
