250th Celebration - Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Overview
Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary at the historic George Taylor House on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Join the community in honoring the nation’s founding at the home of George Taylor, one of Pennsylvania’s signers of the Declaration of Independence.
This special semiquincentennial event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, living history presentations, historical demonstrations, musical performances, and opportunities to explore one of the Lehigh Valley’s most significant historic sites. Visitors can experience a Living History Timeline, enjoy performances by the Brandywine Colonials Fife & Drum Corps and the Catasauqua Choir and Bell Choir, and view historical displays and demonstrations throughout the day.
A highlight of the celebration will be a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence presented by the Bachmann Players at approximately 11:20 a.m., bringing the words that shaped a nation to life.
The event grounds and entertainment are free and open to the public. Guided tours of the George Taylor House will be available for a suggested $10 donation.
As communities across the country commemorate 250 years of American independence, there is no better place to reflect on the nation’s founding than the home of one of the men who helped make it possible.
