Totts Gap Arts Institute
Overview
The mission of the Totts Gap Arts Institute (TGAI) is to nurture artists of all ages, and to awaken the excitement, passion, and possibility of both the fine and performing arts by offering classes, showcasing talent, and hosting events that will infuse our community and the region with a love and respect for the creative process.
Young and old alike can hone their skills in metalwork, pottery, watercolor, oil painting, and scagliola. Other spaces are dedicated to dance, music, theater, and photography.
Historical Significance
TGAI once housed Dr. Stewart Wolf’s Totts Gap Medical Research Institute back in the 60s. Walking through the rooms you can easily sense the important medical experimentation that was conducted there. Now that it houses the Arts Institute bearing the same name, that sense of excitement continues in the creativity of the students work.
TGAI admits students of any race, color, sexual orientation, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship programs, hiring, or other school-administered programs.
