The Logo of Gran Fondo Hincapie Lehigh Valley, PA

We have partnered with Hincapie to bring a Gran Fondo Spring Classic cycling race to the Lehigh Valley on June 4, 2022. You may be asking yourself, well what's a "gran fondo"? It's a style of cycling race that includes a very large number of riders. The phrase comes from Italian and loosely translates to "big ride". Events like this are popular worldwide, from Australia to Europe.

The Gran Fondo Hincapie Lehigh Valley will start and finish at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown and will welcome anywhere from 800-2200 people. Riders can choose from three course tracks, ranging from 15 miles to 80 miles, that include many of the covered bridges in Lehigh Valley. At the conclusion of the race, the Hincapie crew will host their signature Gran Fondo Hincapie Family Festival inside the Velodrome for all attendees and family members/guests to attend.

This is the first time Lehigh Valley is partnering with Hincapie to bring a Gran Fondo cycling event to the region.

"The inaugural Gran Fondo Hincapie Lehigh Valley will welcome visitors to a destination that appreciates and supports cyclists. Partnering with the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and incorporating the iconic covered bridges into the course routes combine our world-renowned cycling history with the old charm that enchants visitors to keep coming back." —Bree Nidds, Vice President of Sales, Discover Lehigh Valley.
