Join fellow plant-lovers, and celebrate the beauty of plants by drawing them with oil pastels, using techniques on blending, layering, and adding expressive movement to capture their organic shapes. With a variety of live house plants as our models, you'll observe shapes and movement of leaves and stems, finding shadows and highlights to capture the plant forms.
Oil pastels create depth when applying blended layers, but they also allow for expressive marks with bolder mark making for a bright vibrant application. You'll be guided through simple techniques to control the medium — but this class is designed to feel relaxed and exploratory, leaving plenty of room for your own style and creative instincts to shine!
As a special addition, we've collaborated with our Community Partner, The Wicked Botanist, to provide each participant with a potted house plant featured in the class. You’ll be able to explore your plant (and others on display) as we’re drawing, as well as take it home to care for it!
