The Rise and Fall of Bethlehem Steel Walking Tour
Overview
Discover the incredible story of Bethlehem Steel, once the second-largest steel manufacturer in the nation.
The Rise and Fall of Bethlehem Steel Walking Tour covers the birth of the industrial giant that provided the steel for national landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Hoover Dam and Empire State Building; artillery and ships in World War II; and much of the Manhattan skyline. At its height, the Bethlehem plant ran 24/7 while employing more than 30,000 people.
On the tour, you’ll dive into Bethlehem Steel’s nearly 100-year history while exploring the former blast furnaces at SteelStacks, an awe-inspiring complex that’s nearly a quarter-mile long and reaches a height of more than 230 feet. It’s an up-close and personal look at one of the true icons of industry, and one you won’t get anywhere else!
