Overview
Heritage Day is an annual celebration of the history and culture of the Borough of Hellertown and surrounding Lower Saucon Township. The event is sponsored by the Hellertown and Lower Saucon Historical Societies and the Saucon Valley Conservancy.
Heritage Day 2026 will be held May 16 at two locations: the 1761 Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex at 150 West Walnut Street in Hellertown, and the Michael Heller Homestead 1892 Friedensville Road Bethlehem along Saucon Creek, adjacent to the Water Street Bridge connecting Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township. Heritage Day will be expanded in 2026 to honor the 250th anniversary, also known as the semiquincentennial, of the founding of the United States.
Many living history exhibits, re-enactors and presentations will be offered. There will also be 18th and 19th century artisans selling handmade wares. In addition, there will be local church and community groups, food vendors and children's activities. Children's activities will include old-time sack and egg races, coloring and crafts, a petting zoo with farm animals and more. The music venue will feature Big Valley Bluegrass Band and later, a perfomance by the Allentown Band, famous for nineteenth-century musical Americana. They are America’s oldest civilian band, keeping the tradition alive since its founding in 1828.
This event is on rain or shine and is free to attend!
