Blending painting with textile art, Amanda Valdez explores the tactile possibilities of abstraction. Featuring twenty hybrid works, Aftertouch showcases her distinctive process of cutting, sewing, weaving, and painting on canvas. By merging fine art and craft, Valdez challenges artistic hierarchies and examines the intertwined histories of gender, race, and power within these traditions. Her vibrant, textured compositions celebrate the hand, the body, and the act of making.
