Overview
The fully-enclosed Gillespie Baseball Field measures 328 feet down the left field line, 331 feet down the right field line, and 401 feet to dead center field. It is equipped with home and visitor dugouts as well as an off-the-field bullpen. The field is home to the Greyhound baseball team.
The program has begun improvements to the facility with a new backstop with pro-style mesh netting added in 2010, a new seven-foot outfield fence with slats and a safety cap installed in 2007 & 2008, a batting cage beyond the centerfield fence, and a storage area in the first base dugout. These are just some of the improvements that are to be done to Gillespie Field.
Over the last decade, Blue & Grey Field has seen a vast number of improvements, first with the installation of permanent dugouts and a batting cage, to permanent fences down the foul lines and new sod.
In 2011, Blue & Grey Field won the 2011 Stabilizer Solutions/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Field Maintenance NCAA Division III Field of the Year Award. In early 2012, Blue & Grey Field was named a 2012 Field of Distinction by the Keystone Athletic Field Managers Organization.
The field is a softball-only facility that has a seven-foot outfield fence, a 30-foot high backstop, dugouts, a full warning track and new bullpens. The dirt on the field is a professional mix of infield including Hilltopper products that allows the field to remain playable for games and practices through even the wettest seasons.
