Overview

Built in 1753 by Jacob Bachmann and his wife, the Bachmann Publick house served as the first Court of Northampton County until 1766. At this venue, local politicians met to exchange news or to conduct meetings. Important men from history who stayed at the Bachmann Publikc House include John Adams of Massachusetts, William Ellery of Rhode Island, William Whipple of New Hampshire, and George Taylor of Pennsylvania, all signers of the Declaration of Independence.

The 1753 Bachmann Publick House is open for programs and special events. Tea parties, colonial activities, and dinner theater performed by the Bachmann Players are some of the events offered.
