Overview
Historic Bethlehem’s 1750/1761 Smithy launches its expanded holiday season with a free Wassail Party on Friday, Nov. 28, immediately following Bethlehem’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at Payrow Plaza.
This year, the Smithy debuts festive enhancements including flame-flicker lighting, holiday greens, illuminated trees, a vintage carriage photo backdrop, exterior fire pits, and weekend kids’ activities like weaving and tin punching. A new adjacent canvas tent will feature demonstrating artisans and unique handmade gifts for holiday shoppers. Visitors can also watch blacksmithing, tinsmithing, and pewtersmithing demonstrations led by new Smith of Practice Luke Dellmyer.
The Wassail Party open house is free, with activities, artisan shopping, and live demonstrations; advance signup is requested.
The 2025 Smithy holiday season is supported by Historic Hotel Bethlehem and the Northampton County Hotel Tax Grant Program. Hours are Nov. 28–30 and Dec. 5–7 from 11 a.m.–6:15 p.m., then daily starting Dec. 11 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed Dec. 24–25).
