Vegan s'Mac Down

From creamy cashew to silky butternut squash, the 2nd Annual Lehigh Valley Vegan s’Mac Down Nov. 18 will feature a variety of vegan “mac and cheeze” recipes from restaurants throughout the region. New for this year, the event moves to the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling for two tasting sessions.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378. General admission tickets are $20 for the public. VIP tickets, which include a vegan tote bag and early entrance to the event for the first chance to taste the macs and meet the chefs, are $29.

Sessions take place at 1-2:30 p.m. and 4-5:30 p.m., with VIP sessions at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. During the afternoon, attendees can taste all the delicious “mac and cheeze” presented by restaurants and caterers from throughout the region. After sampling each delectable dish, attendees will vote for their favorites. The s’Mac Down Champion will be awarded a custom-blown trophy from the ArtsQuest Glass Studio at the Banana Factory.

The event will also feature variety of vegan vendors like No Whey Bakery, LV Kombucha, De Novo Creamery and Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations, as well as vegan cocktails including an Aquafaba Whiskey Sour, Peach Fizz, Jalapeno Margarita and Cucumber Cooler.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company will also be on hand giving away samples of their Last Chance IPA. With bottles available for purchase, Weyerbacher donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every Last Chance IPA to small animal rescue organizations throughout its distribution area. These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home. Attendees can finish the day with something sweet by Vegan Treats, named among the top 10 bakeries in the world by American Express' Departures magazine.
