Tapas, Treats & An Encore Performance of Vanishing Point
The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) was the first high school to produce Vanishing Point, A New Musical- book and lyrics by Rob Hartmann and Liv Cummins, music by Rob Hartmann, original concept and additional lyrics by Scott Keys. The school's production opened to sold-out crowds for a two-week run in October 2019, and due to popular demand, the school will offer an encore performance along with a gathering before the show as a fundraiser on Saturday, November 16, 2019, called Tapas, Treats and An Encore Performance of Vanishing Point.
The evening will begin with tapas, treats, and music in the school's Commons Cafe at 6 p.m., with the encore performance at 7 p.m. in the Charter Arts Theatre. The show, food, and drinks are included in the ticket price of $20 for adults and $10 for kids/teens.
Vanishing Point, a musical comedy-fantasy, centers around Aviatrix Amelia Earhart, evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, and author Agatha Christie who each vanished mysteriously: Agatha disappeared for eleven days; Aimee disappeared for three weeks, and of course Amelia vanished completely. The show has a cast of three: the women play not only their central role but also each others’ mothers, husbands, friends, reporters, and so on.
The production is directed by Kelly Bickert and features outstanding performances by three of the school’s senior theatre majors: Katie Conlon as Agatha Christie, Reagan Frankhouser as Aimee Semple McPherson and Marcella Karam as Amelia Earhart.
