Reel Queer Film Series: Kumu Hina

The Reel Queer Film Series at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center presents a free screening of Kumu Hina on March 22 at 7 p.m. KUMU HINA is a powerful film about the struggle to maintain Pacific Islander culture and values within the Westernized society of modern-day Hawaiʻi. It is told through the lens of an extraordinary Native Hawaiian who is both a proud and confident māhū, or transgender woman, and an honored and respected kumu, or teacher, cultural practitioner, and community leader. A talkback will follow the film screening. This is a sober social event. No alcohol will be served. The Reel Queer Film Series is supported with a grant from Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
