Pennsylvania Youth Theatre Presents: Disney's The Little Mermaid
Join PYT “under the sea” with Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s The Little Mermaid; an international blockbuster musical that has been seen on stage since 2007. Based on Disney’s animated film, the hit Broadway musical features several classic songs including “Under The Sea,” “Kiss The Girl” and “Part of Your World,” as well as new songs written by Oscar-winning Disney composer Alan Menken, the mastermind behind Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas. Lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater with a book by Doug Wright.
This fun and family-friendly musical, adapted from the original 1989 Disney film, brings to life the classic love story. Unsatisfied with her life at sea, free-spirited young mermaid princess Ariel longs to experience the human world above. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince; Prince Eric. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula. Will Ariel be able to live between both worlds? This show offers humor, romance, and excitement for all ages!
PYT is thrilled to introduce its newest Director, Sarah Yorke, who was recently accepted into Ohio State University’s Master’s of Fine Arts in Directing. Sarah and her creative team including Musical Director, Adam Conti, and Choreographer, Camille Armstrong have inspired two marvelous casts consisting of 70 PYT students ages 6-18 performing for two weekends of shows. Alongside PYT students, King Triton will be played by Jack Armstrong, and Grimsby played by Ted Williams.
Join Ariel, her mersisters, Sebastian, Flounder, Scuttle, and many fishy friends as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime. PYT invites you to be a part of ITS world in May!
