LCCC Plans Veterans Awareness Week Bingo and Tribute

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will be honoring veterans with several events during Veterans Awareness Week, Nov. 5-10.

This year the college will create a “Faces of Honor” tribute that will be displayed in the Student Union at the Schnecksville campus. LCCC students, faculty, staff and individuals from the surrounding community can submit photos of themselves and/or family members who are currently serving or have served in the military. Photo submissions will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 26, and must meet certain criteria.

Digital images, which must be of the highest resolution possible – 600 x 800 pixels minimum – can be submitted electronically to, or color or black and white photographs may be dropped off in the Admissions Office at LCCC’s Main Campus in Schnecksville, the Morgan Center in Tamaqua or the Donley Center Admissions Office in Allentown. All print photos must be picked up at the main campus, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville, Pa. between Nov. 12 and 30.

The “Faces of Honor” display can be viewed at LCCC’s main campus during normal operating hours Monday through Friday, Nov. 5-10.

A Veterans Day flag ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., at the flagpole outside the Student Services Center. Staff, students, area veterans and members of the community are encouraged to support the college’s veterans and participate in this event.

The week will conclude with the second annual LCCC Military Bingo Gift Card event to be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 12 to 4 p.m., in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center at LCCC’s Schnecksville campus. Prizes include $50 to $75 gift cards for Amazon, VISA, Target, the New Movie Tavern, Oliver’s Spa, Wawa and more. Cost is $20 for 20 games, if purchased in advance, or $25 at the door. Three “special” games can be purchased at the door for an additional cost of $5 (free to veterans with military ID, plus a free hot dog). Dabbers will be on sale for $1, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. Food and beverages will be sold by CulinArt Group, and LCCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Club will hold a bake sale. All proceeds benefit the Lehigh Valley Health Network Veteran Health Program (MAVRIC) organization, which will award a $500 scholarship to an LCCC veteran or military student for the Spring 2019 semester.

Only 200 tickets will be sold. Tickets may be purchased online at

The sponsor for this year’s event is Netizen Corporation, which was recently named the 2018 Veteran Owned Business of the Year by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
