Iterations: Kayla Ackelson

Artist Statement:My inspiration comes from the human body, topographical maps, encounters with nature and memory. I consider my artwork to be an extension of myself, a sort of stream of consciousness. Using simplified, organic shapes, I’m able to represent the biomorphic forms found in nature through my work. As a continuation of my meditative practice, each subtle line and brushstroke provides a tranquil yet unique experience. Often keeping in mind the concept of wabi sabi, the acceptance and appreciation of imperfections, I work in an unplanned way, improvising the finished product.
