Folk Rocker Meghan Cary with Dan Weber
Folk rock troubadour Meghan Cary, who has become renown for empowering others through her music and words, is making her Godfrey Daniels debut on Saturday, September 7 at 8 p.m. with co-headliner Dan Weber.
During this much-anticipated show, Cary will not only play hits from her latest album with her musical partner Peter Farrell but also give the audience an intimate look at the inspiration behind the record that was heralded as one that “inspires us to reach our higher selves.” (John Platt, WFUV FM). Sing Louder, which debuted among the top 10 on the US / International Folk DJ Radio Charts, is being played at mainstream radio in more than 40 markets throughout the country and in Canada.
In addition to her performance, Cary will offer fans the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of her first book Sing Louder: The Stories Behind The Songs. The companion to her critically-acclaimed album Sing Louder, this mesmerizing collection of essays provides fans with a deeply introspective look into the life stories that inspired her most profound album to date.
“I first met Dan Weber in the elevator at a music conference,” said Cary. “I knew before we reached the lobby that I wanted to share a show with him, telling stories and singing songs… and then I heard him play. It was all over! I’ve wanted to do a show with Dan since that elevator ride, so I’m thrilled that we’re making our Godfrey Daniels debuts together. This is going to be a blast!”
Weber, who also achieved success with his latest album What I’m Looking For (debuting at #6 on the charts), has been described as “The Classic Mid-Life Overnight Sensation” after bursting onto the festival scene in 2010 to a standing ovation at the Sisters Folk Festival for his engaging set in the Dave Carter songwriting contest. Since then he’s toured extensively across the country becoming a rare three-time finalist in the legendary Kerrville ‘New Folk’ competition, had two top finishes in the Woody Guthrie songwriting contest and in 2015 won the prestigious Winfield, Kansas ‘NewSong’ contest for “Oh Woody,” his anthemic tribute to Woody Guthrie, that rose to #2 on the Folk charts in 2015.
