Faces of Literacy

The Literacy Center is proud each year to honor several outstanding achievers in a featured photographic exhibition by professional photographer, Marco Calderon. The exhibition, "Faces of Literacy" is the organization's major fundraising event. Originated in 2013, the purpose of the event is to promote The Literacy Center's important role in providing instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED- high school equivalency instruction.

The Center is honored to announce that Mrs. Diane Pierce-Williams, wife of Muhlenberg College president John Williams, will serve as the 2017 Honorary Chair.

During the event, a series of student photographs will be on display depicting the honorees personal and professional lives. The students will share their own unique stories of overcoming tremendous obstacles in reaching their educational goals. The photos will join the collection of past "Faces of Literacy" recipient photos located at The Literacy Center. Each student's photo serves as an inspiration t all enrolled students, demonstrating that literacy is more than reading and writing. Literacy truly promotes healthy families, increases economic development and builds thriving communities.
