Art History from a Queer Perspective: LC Tiffany, Aubrey Beardsley, Loie Fuller, Oscar Wilde and the World of Art Nouveau
Louis Comfort Tiffany took the credit for a lot of the beautiful stained glass windows and lamps he did not design. Learn about the woman who did and how she championed the rights of women artisans in the Tiffany studios. Dancer Loie Fuller, who has been called the Lesbian Electric Fairy of the Belle Epoch, brought Art Nouveau to life! Oscar Wilde spoke at length about the decorative arts of the period. And illustrator Aubrey Beardsley who was gay, fey, brilliant, prolific and tragic, will all be featured in this class that will examine this beautiful style that flurished between 1890 and 1910. And don’t miss wonderful themed snacks!
