This past Saturday I had the privilege of being invited by the marketing staff at the Sands® Casino Resort Bethlehem to their first ever Burger and Beer Bash. I’m here to tell you, mark the 2014 date now as this was a great night.

The Burger and Beer Bash kicked off the 4th Annual Lehigh Valley Food & Wine Festival, which was headlined by Chef Emeril Lagasse and his amazing cooking demonstration. Proceeds from the weekend’s events helped benefit the Northampton Community College Foundation for aspiring culinary arts students with some lucky students getting the chance to intern with the legendary chef in his New Orleans restaurant.

Burgers and beer, YUM! This tented event had 16 local restaurants including Emeril’s Italian Table, Sagra, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery and more all vying to be selected as having the best burger in town. Pair these tasty sliders with beer samples from Stout’s, Strongbow, Troeg’s, Victory and more and you have the making of an exceptional night.

Having sampled almost all of the burgers including Pearly Bakers Ale House’s Mole and Korean BBQ burgers, Spuds’ Goober Burger and Volpe’s Buffalo Burger, the crowd had spoken and Roosevelt’s 21st Bethlehem’s Signature Award-Winning Burger was crowned victorious with Copperhead Grille’s BBQ Fusion Burger finishing a close second. But one captured my senses.

The Chicken & Biscuit Burger by Burgers and More by Emeril was a little slice of heaven. This petite piece of perfection with its perfectly portioned slice of bacon on top and some special sauce left me craving more. So feeling like Kobayashi after another victory I’ll let this chicken & biscuit burger reign supreme for now. But chicken& biscuit burger we will meet again, I can guarantee you that. Any one up for lunch today? I know where I’m headed.
