I love pizza! In fact, I could eat pizza every day of the week if I had to. It all started when I was a kid, when not only would the school menu every Friday be pizza, but my family and I would go to Pizza Hut nearly every Friday as well.
These days I'd rather eat Boston's pizza rather than Pizza Hut or Papa John's, but that's for another blog post. This post is about a place I recently found just a couple blocks from my work: Delicioso Pizza & Subs.
Located between 10th and 11th Streets on Hamilton Street just as you approach center city Allentown, Delicioso is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Keep an eye open for the red awning and the picnic benches on the sidewalk (although with the cooler weather, I don't know how much longer they'll be out). And parking is on the street, so make sure you bring some change for the meters.
It's not a large establishment, but this locally owned pizzeria always seems to be full during lunchtime. They have all the regular Italian fare - from pizza and stromboli to subs to soups and salads to garlic knots - which will satisfy nearly anybody's tastes and means that I can go there every day for at least a month before I have to repeat my order.
Aside from the fresh-n-savory neapolitan-style pizza, I'd say Delicioso's biggest draw would have to be their affordable prices. For instance, the first time I was there for lunch, I got two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for roughly $5. Even just one slice alone is a mere $1.85 (plus tax, of course).
So whether you're looking for lunch, dinner to go, or even delivery, I'd suggest you check out Delicioso ... I don't think you'll be disappointed ... and be sure to let me know what you think.
