Air conditioning, television, the internet, your spot on the couch, there are plenty of reasons to stay inside this summer to beat the heat. But as the summer wanes and the heat becomes more bearable, here are a few outdoor treasures in Lehigh Valley to get you out of the house.

At Hawk Mountain you can go hiking on the 8-mile trail system or birding. The sanctuary is  known as one of the best places in the northeast to watch the autumn hawk migration and take in incredible views of fall foliage. In fact, the Annual Autumn HawkWatch starts tomorrow and goes through December 15th.

Archery Addictions is a year round facility, but before school starts up, hit up their outdoor range during the week to get your Robin Hood, Hawkeye or Katniss Everdeen on! If it happens to rain during your visit don't fret, there's still a 10,000 sq. ft. indoor range for you to enjoy as well.

Take on the river at your own pace! Delaware River Tubing, Jim Thorpe River Adventures, Pocono Whitewater Adventure, Whitewater Challengers, and Whitewater Rafting Adventures are five great options to take to the river for some fun on the rapids or a relaxing float downstream.

Grab your bicycle and get on the trails or watch the professionals hit the track. There are still a few weeks of racing Tuesday and Friday nights at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and for those who would like to get on the mountain, Bear Creek, Blue Mountain and Pocono Biking will take care of all your needs.

Looking for more than a day out? We've got plenty of campgrounds for you and your friends and family to enjoy. Couple a few days of camping with one of the aforementioned attractions and you have a mini end-of-summer vacation right here in Lehigh Valley.
