There was a lot going on in Lehigh Valley over the Memorial Day Weekend such as Mayfair Festival of the Arts and the grand opening of the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. But to celebrate the "unofficial start of summer" after a hectic week, I enjoyed a more low-keyed three days off by spending some time at home ... without home improvement projects!
Some highlights ... a Friday night campfire, watching afternoon storms from our screen room, a few bike rides, and a couple nights of "throwing something on the grill." By Memorial Day, we were ready to venture out. We decided to drive to downtown Bethlehem.
We set out mid-afternoon so we'd have time to walk around and popped into the Hotel Bethlehem for a cocktail at the Tap Room. After enjoying a perfectly mixed margarita, the sunshine streaming through the windows called us back outside.
Since the shops were closed for the holiday we headed for the canal. The tow path is a beautiful place to take a walk and we passed several families fishing along the way. What a great way to spend the afternoon! Next time we plan to bring our bikes so we can peddle into Allentown.
We ended up having dinner at Mama Nina's (I'm still stuffed), then headed home for another much-needed bike ride before sunset.
How did you spend your weekend?
