The oldest rivalry in college sports just got a little more interesting. At 4:45 today at Stabler Arena, Lehigh and Lafayette will play for a Patriot League Championship and a ticket to The Big Dance.  The Patriot League tournament could not have played out any better for Lehigh Valley basketball fans.

They split during regular season play. In their first meeting Lehigh pounded Lafayette 75-57 at home. Lafayette returned the favor with a 90-75 victory at home. It seems to me that it is anyone’s ball game. I haven’t seen either of these teams play this year, so I can’t make any type of prediction. If I had to make a prediction I would take Lehigh. They have home court advantage and that is a big deal in college sports. I imagine it won’t be that big of an advantage considering Lafayette is 15 minutes away, and the student body can show up and cause some havoc in Stabler.

I was hoping to attend this game, but we are celebrating Nana Bro’s 80th birthday tonight. That trumps the Patriot League Championship. But dinner isn’t till 6:30, should be able to squeeze it on TV somewhere.

Let’s Go Mountain Hawks!!!
