Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena in Bethlehem.

This was my first Chamber affair, and I was pleasantly surprised at the grandeur of the event. Stabler provided a big, open area to house the 1,000 or so people in attendance. As you can imagine, lunch for that many people could be a task, so they opted for boxed lunches and goodie bags at every seat. There was confetti streaming from the stage, a dramatic voice announcer and lots of audio-visual effects; it was quite a show.

My favorite part of the meeting was the keynote speaker: Bill Giles, Chairman of the Phillies. What great timing to have a speaker whose team just won the World Series speak about teamwork! After that, we heard from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and the accomplishments they achieved this year. Several awards were handed out to area businesses such as Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Roxy Theatre.

Other enjoyable highlights:

I'd like to thank the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce for the invitation to this event and for getting me out of the office for a few hours.
