It’s getting to be that time again, as we “welcome” the summer heat here in Lehigh Valley. If you’re anything like me, you’re the type of person that prefers to stay cool and comfortable by any means possible in the sweltering heat. Here are a few of the ways that I plan on keeping cool this summer season without spending a ton of money.
Lost River Caverns / Crystal Cave
Nothing beats a relaxing tour through a cool cavern in the summertime. Both Lost River Caverns (Hellertown) and Crystal Cave (Kutztown) remain at 52° year round and have informative tours full of unique geological facts that kids and adults will enjoy.
Dutch Springs
Dutch Springs is known as one of the premier diving destinations on the East Coast, offering scuba divers crystal-clear visibility in their 50+ acre lake. There's an Aqua Park on the cool lake and a Sky Challenge for the non-divers in the family. Before you visit, check out our video tour online.
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom
Alright, this one’s the heavy hitter and probably not much of a secret. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom are two great parks to visit on the hot summer days. There is literally something for everyone here, not just the thrill seekers. In addition to the rides and the water park, they have Planet Snoopy, Dinosaurs Alive!, live entertainment and plenty of dining options.
Tubing
Tubing down the river is a timeless leisurely activity that you can enjoy with friends, and it really doesn’t cost a whole lot either. Whether you’d like to tube down the Lehigh River or the Delaware River, there are plenty of options to choose from.
