This week began the ever-popular Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp right here in Lehigh Valley. I haven't been out to Lehigh University to check out the birds yet, but I vividly remember my experience at Training Camp last year.
It was HOT. I hadn't sweat that much since ... I don't know when. I couldn't see how those fans could stand it, sitting in the blazing sun with no shade in sight watching football players practice for hours at a time. I could understand if it was a real game, but this was just practice! I guess that's what makes them die-hard fans.
Eagles Training Camp was the closest I'd ever been, and probably ever will be, to someone as famous as Donovan McNabb or Andy Reed without paying an insane amount of money (training camp is free for the public to attend). Thanks to the nifty zoom on my camera, I took photos that make it look like I was actually on the field instead of in the bleachers.
It looks like this year, the Eagles' 15th consecutive season training at Lehigh, Andy Reed and my buddy/quarterback Kevin Kolb (I got his autograph last year!) are back. McNabb is apparently off to ... wherever ... and Michael Vick came to Bethlehem in his place. The rookies and veteran quarterbacks are practicing now, but Saturday everyone will be there, so I'm thinking I'll head over to Lehigh then.
Will you go see the Eagles practice? They'll be there till August 17.
