Every year I ask my sister Kathy what I should bring for Thanksgiving dinner and her answer is always "Just yourselves." Despite what she says, I usually try to think of something that will survive the 90-minute drive and be ready to serve...WINE!

Not exactly an original idea, I know, but what kind to bring has fueled some debate. Should I focus on bringing something to go with the turkey? Or should I bring a good Cabernet Sauvignon? A dry white? Sweet? Semi-sweet? It is hard to please everyone with just a couple bottles, and I certainly didn't want to commit a social faux pas by bringing a wine that was "so last season" (and don't pretend you don't know what I mean. Remember Merlot, Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, heck ... I could go as far back as Chablis!).

This year, I finally found it!

The perfect compliment to the wonderful holiday meal Kathy and my brother-in-law, Don, serve is Sorrenti's Cherry Valley's Cranberry Blush! The Sorrentis are known for their wonderful fruit wines and spumantes, but the Cranberry Blush is one of my favorites. And what a crowd-pleaser! Everyone loved it!

Now, most people know how much I like to support all of our local wineries, but I hadn't allowed enough time to get to one of their retail stores on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Luckily I checked the Pennsylvania Wines section of the local Wine & Spirits store and found what I wanted right there.

I've started a new family tradition - Nancy brings the wine!
