Recognized as a Pennsylvania State Park, the Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center covers more than 1,160 acres including lush wooded areas, streams for fishing, 18.5 miles for hiking, biking, and horseback riding and more. While there are 121 state parks throughout Pennsylvania, only four are designated as environmental education centers, specializing in a variety of programming for school groups and the surrounding community.
Your meeting attendees will find comfortable space in the on-site Visitor's Center building. A certified Green facility, this space offers state-of-the-art design that helps to seamlessly blend into its surroundings. The space can be used as one larger room, or divided in half to accommodate breakout sessions. Ample free parking is available.
Located in the Central Range of the Trexler Nature Preserve, the Trexler Environmental Center is a working example of state of the art sustainable building practices for the 21st century. The building has earned Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its environmentally friendly features and construction.
The Trexler Environmental Center is located at one of the highest points within the Nature Preserve and is positioned to take advantage of the solar path and prevailing winds throughout the year. The rooftop observation area offers spectacular panoramic views of the grounds and surrounding areas. From here, one can also observe some the building’s “green” features including use of renewable materials for construction, geothermal heating and cooling systems, solar panels that provide a significant portion of the energy needs of the building, and pervious concrete outside to reduce surface runoff, among others.
Perhaps you prefer something a bit more centrally located. Look no further than the Nurture Nature Center, located in Easton, PA. This venue is a dynamic center for community learning about local environmental risks all housed in a beautifully renovated, historic, 30,000 sq. ft. facility where the staff uses a blend of science, art, and dialogue programs to get the community talking and thinking critically about the local environment.
On-site meeting spaces provide flexible arrangement for seating with AV readily accessible. Your attendees will enjoy browsing the various galleries of the Nurture Nature Center during breaks in the day's agenda. Plentiful parking is available throughout the city of Easton.
