I know it is Easter time and Peeps are an all-time favorite but I am beginning to think people have lost their mind about this treat. National publications, like the Washington Post and National Geographic, host contests that revolve around these sugary treats. But that's just the beginning!

Then, there's the big debate about what kind of Peeps are better: fresh, stale, deep fried or frozen? And what's the most popular color: pink, yellow, white, blue, green, red, orange or lavender?

All this obsessing over Peeps makes it pretty clear why Just Born, the company that makes Peeps right here in Bethlehem, isn't open to the general public for tours. Imagine the chaos!

However, I did get to see how these sweet treats and other Just Born goodies (like Mike & Ike's and Hot Tamales) are made, and so can you: check out these virtual tours of the candy-making process or you can purchase a 30-minute recording from PCN Tours.

So, why Peeps? How, and more so why, did this obsession start? Did you know that there are over 200 unofficial Peeps Web sites out there? Have you become a member of the Peeps Fan Club yet?
