Sometimes it’s necessary to escape the stress of adulthood. Usually, my answer is a good workout or a happy hour cocktail. But, what better way to de-stress than by attending a live comedy show? Luckily, Lehigh Valley is home to quite a few. So, next time you’re in the mood for a good laugh, here are a few options.
Fridays and Saturdays call for a trip to Wise Crackers Comedy Club. Located inside the Ramada in Whitehall, this is a convenient location for visitors and locals. Whether you’re on a date or a girls’ / boys’ night out, this comedy club is the perfect setting for a night of laughter. Before or after, grab a bite to eat at Shooters Sports Bar & Grill right on site. Check out Ramada’s overnight packages that include two comedy show tickets, two free drink tickets, and continental breakfast.
ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks is home to a plethora of comedy shows. From improv to standup to sketch comedy, there is always something to look forward to on their calendar of events.
One of the regulars at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks is The Associated Mess. This is a troupe of local improv comedians whose job is to make you laugh. Their style is similar to the famous show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Everything is made up on the spot and is never the same show twice. Besides performing at SteelStacks, The Associated Mess also brings the laughter to Allentown Brew Works. Both of these venues have plenty of food options to snack on before, during, and after the show. For up to date event listings, check out their Facebook page. Looking for the best Thursday night activity ever? SteelStacks hosts Two Laugh Minimum—a stand-up comedy showcase, featuring some of the area’s most hilarious comics. The show returns every-other-week and typically features 3-5 different comedians, all slingin’ jokes to make the start of your weekend truly wonderful.
Another regular at SteelStacks is the comedy group ManDudeBro. Their improv is similar to what you’d see at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in New York City (where they’ve trained extensively!). See them every Friday at 10:30 p.m. for their longform improv routines. Plus, they offer improv classes and workshops for all skill levels. You can learn more at www.mandudebro.com. In addition to these regularly scheduled shows, SteelStacks is home to even more hilarious shows throughout the year. Check out everything that is going on via their website.
Another one of Lehigh Valley’s commonly used venues for comedians is the Sands Bethlehem Event Center. This location has hosted quite a few famous comedians including Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, and Kevin James to name a few.
There is always something going on in Lehigh Valley. So, next time you're in the mood for a good ab workout, hit up one of these spots!
