'Tis the season for bargains. My mom and I definitely got bargains last weekend when we went out shopping in Lehigh Valley for some fresh produce.
Our first stop was Elias Farmers Market, at the corner of Front and Tilghman Streets in Allentown. This place is jam packed each time I pass it. They even have someone directing cars where to park.
Elias is a tiny market with incredible deals, like pineapples for $1.99, eight oranges for $1 and more. They also have a deli counter for meats and fresh-made salads like babaganoush, hummus and tabouli. I walked out with multiple bags of food for under $20.
Our other stop is my all-time favorite, the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market. Secret tip: Head there at 4 p.m. on a Saturday - they turn it into an auction-style market with even better than incredible deals like a dozen fresh bagels for $3, three quarts of strawberries for $5 and fresh cuts of meats for good deals. Whether you are a local or a tourist, you just have to check this place out!
I haven't tried places like Produce Junction or Aldi's yet, but I have heard they have some great deals too. Know of any other places I should try?
