Last week was a very exciting week in Lehigh Valley. It was opening day for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and a birthday celebration for the America on Wheels Museum in Allentown. In addition to those events occurring, there was also a very special event taking place in Easton. The Longaberger Basket Festival was taking place at The Crayola FACTORY®.
Since this was a unique event I decided to spend Thursday in Easton talking to the visitors of the Basket Festival. I spent the first 2 hours in The Crayola FACTORY® answering questions about the festival and encouraging guests to explore Easton on their way out. After spending this much time talking about Easton, I decided it was my turn to take a walk.
Since it was lunch time, I decided to start my tour at Mex-Tex Trio. It had been several months since my last lunch there and I was really looking forward to their fresh salsa. I took advantage of the 2 taco lunch special and plotted the next stop on my walking tour. Since I was full from lunch, I was off to the Sigal Museum on Northampton Street. The museum recently added an exhibit dedicated to the Just Born Candy Company and I had to see it. The highlight of the exhibit was the display showing how PEEPS® are made.
After looking at all that candy I was hungry again and it was time for my next stop; The Purple Cow Creamery. This shop is located right next to The Crayola FACTORY® and features more than 45 types of ice cream. I had a tough time deciding on a flavor but in the end decided on a small bowl of the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. It was a great choice and the perfect ending to a good day in Easton.
