Summertime in Lehigh Valley is in full effect and the next holiday is right around the corner. Sunday, June 19 marks Father’s Day this year and the weekend is filled with events, meals, activities, and more to celebrate dad.

Last year I scored tickets to the IronPigs game on Father’s Day which was a perfect day out in the sun. This year, the IronPigs play the Buffalo Bisons all weekend long and you are guaranteed to have some fun.  On Sunday, there is a BBQ set for the first 2,000 men (18+) that enter the stadium to enjoy before/during the game.

It’s Hoods Up Weekend at America On Wheels. Bring dad to see what’s under the hood at select vehicles throughout the museum. Plus, receive buy one admission, get one free.

Or, enjoy a beautiful 40-minute round-trip aboard WK&S railroad’s vintage train as you follow the Ontelaunee Creek throughout the ride. You’ll have the chance to get an up-close look at a variety of train and railroad equipment. A steam locomotive will also be on site for you to climb in for a father’s day photo opp.

Sticking with this theme, take the family go kart racing at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix. Strap on your helmet and get ready for the ultimate adrenaline rush.

DSC_0030If you don’t mind celebrating a day early, Dutch Springs is hosting “Brunch with Splash” on Saturday where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet with music, games, and more. Get your tickets that include the aqua park and sky challenge for the full experience!

If your dad is a live music lover, you are in luck all weekend long. You can catch a show at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks Thursday through Sunday. Or, check out “Saturday Music in the Park” featuring Shawn Welch. Both of these are free to attend. Bring along a lawn chair and relax while listening to some great music.

My plans for Father's Day consist of hiking Hawk Mountain with my dad followed by brunch and possibly wine tasting. I might even join him on his weekly Sunday morning bike ride if I'm feeling extra adventurous. What are your plans for celebrating dad?
