Big party weekend in Lehigh Valley. Cinco de Mayo is Tuesday May 5th, but the festivities start tonight and go right through till Tuesday.
Tonight, you'll find me at Chili’s in Whitehall where the entire parking lot becomes a massive party. They have food stations set up with fajitas, tacos and other types of Mexican goodies. They also set up a tent where a band plays and people get their dance on. The band this year is She Said Sunday. I know nothing about them, but I'm going to assume they're good since they're playing the biggest Cinco party in the Valley.
The best part about about the party at Chili’s the Corona beer truck. They actually park a truck full of Corona right in the parking lot where the party is taking place. That should give you an idea of the magnitude of this event.
On Saturday the watering holes of West End Allentown are having a Cinco Pub Crawl. The participating pubs are Jack Callaghan’s, Stooge’s, Ringer’s Roost, Greg’s West End Saloon and Volpe’s. Apparently you need to have an apostrophe in your name to be part of the Crawl.
The crawl starts at 6:30 p.m., which gives me plenty of time to rest up from Friday night's partying before I do it all over again. And tickets are $15, which includes two beers. The proceeds go towards the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade. What better way to fundraise for a drinking event, than with another drinking event.
What are you doing for Cinco de Mayo?
