(Main Street in Bethlehem, PA) Live Like a Local with George
Video released on: December 26, 2012
Hi this is George, we’re on Main Street in beautiful downtown Bethlehem, I’m going to show you how to live like a local in some of the shops and other places here. It’s a little cold outside and I want to get inside, and our first stop will be the Moravian Book Shop. Let’s go.
Now the Moravian Book Shop isn’t all about books. They have gifts for every occasion, they also have the retro deli inside, and you can find all your Bethlehem and Moravian stars there. Oh, did you know that the Moravian book shop is also the oldest continually running book shop in the United States?
Next up is The Foo Foo Shoppe, which has been voted the best bath and body shop by readers of Lehigh Valley Magazine for seven years in a row. They have a collection of over 300 kinds of rubber ducks, which is a lot of fun. It is a great place to get a gift for that special someone or pretty much anybody. Oh, and just in case you thought I was lying about the ducks.
Right across the street from The Foo Foo Shoppe is Artfully Elegant, owned by the owners of Monsoon Gallery in South Bethlehem. It is the home to some of the finest hand made jewelry in the world. So guys, this is where you buy your wife all of her gifts. Take note.
Seasons Olive Oil and Vinegar Taproom is a different kind of store you’re not used to seeing some times in downtown areas. It features a large selection of single state extra virgin olive oils and traditional balsamic vinegars on tap. Seasons Taproom is pretty unique in the fact that they let you taste test pretty much everything that they have here. This is the Juniper Berry balsamic. Yeah, that’s awesome.
We’re at The Attic, where I buy most of my clothing, but I can’t really describe how it is, we’ve got to go inside and check it out ourselves. What’s great about The Attic is that you can actually buy and sell clothes here. So there’s a lot of stuff here that you can’t find in other stores, which is why I come here a lot, to find some new fun things to wear. What do you guys think, this one, or this one? The Attic also has a large selection of jewelry and some fun tchotchkes.
If you haven’t been to Tapas in Main yet, it’s incredible, and I recommend their house sangria, it is to die for.
We’re here at Ostara, which is unique because it’s a witchcraft store. You’re going to have to see it to believe it, let’s go inside. Ostara specializes in magical supplies and gifts, as well as new and used books. They also host classes, events and rituals as well as tarot, palm and astrology readings. It’s just a really wonderful store, and I suggest you take a lot of time when you go in there to look around.
Last, but certainly not last on our list today is Donegal Square, and Bethlehem is know for it’s strong Celtic heritage, and Donegal Square is where you can go for all of your Irish or British needs. And, Granny Mccarthy’s Tea Room is in the back of Donegal Square, and I suggest you get some scones.
Thank you for joining me in Downtown Bethlehem, there’s a lot more to do down here than even we could have covered in the short video, so be sure to come down and check out all the great stores and restaurants there are here. See you next time.
