George: Hi, this is George. We’re coming at you from Easton. We’re here on a nice afternoon. We wanted to show you some of the places we like to go eat at, drink at, or visit in Easton during the day. Let’s start at Sette Luna. Now, Sette Luna is about as close as you’re going to get to Tuscany without taking a flight to Italy. Besides it’s fine wines and incredible chef’s special pizza, it was also started by three native Estonians. Now a few steps outside the door is Ocean, which opens for dinner at 5 pm. We’re a little bit early and just down the block is the new Mesa Modern Mexican restaurant. We were stopping in at Valenca, which is located right on Centre Square.

We’re here at Valenca in Centre Square and Valenca is known for its fine dining in the evenings. However, they do have a great bar life as well. You can come here during the day and try some of their special cocktails. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturday nights, they do have live music and you can hit up their very large craft beer list. A good place to stop, maybe after you’ve had some drinks or you were out for some food, is Connexions Gallery. It’s primarily a fine art gallery, but it does have some handmade gifts and a lot of the artists who are featured here, actually most of them, are local. Let’s go inside. Since opening in 1990, Connexions Gallery has been home to regional and local artists in all media and style. They also have homemade gifts and they also have music and open mic events. They also have Fredo the cat.

You haven’t been to Easton unless you’ve been to Porter’s Pub. It’s one of the best spots in Easton. It’s no secret everybody loves it here. The beer on tap here is limitless, almost. Let’s go in and check it out. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Porter’s are these numbered mugs on the ceiling. We’ll get to those in a minute. You should also notice the great staff, the warm and friendly people who come in here, the queen atmosphere and the wonderful food. One of the fun things about Porter’s is their Mug Club. You can come in, put your name into the computer, it’ll print out your list and it lets you know how many beers you have left to get to the 60 it takes to get you your own mug, which I already got. Now Porter’s is part of something locals call the “Beermuda Triangle,” which also includes Two Rivers Brewing Company and Black and Blue, which we decided to walk to up the hill.

Black and Blue is probably the most interesting and well-decorated bar and restaurant that we’ve been in in a long time. They also have a wide selection of absinthe, which is unique and we’re going to let Tara tell you more about that.

Tara: We have five different kinds of absinthe. They vary from Philadelphia, which is a Vieux CarrĂ©. We also have the Switzerland and we have three from France. The Grande and the Pernod are probably your two most popular. The Vieux CarrĂ© is going to be a little bit more floral. The Lucid’s a little bit more peppery… so I’ll slowly open the tap and let the water drip very slowly onto the sugar cube and it melts it in the drink. Almost immediately, you can start to smell the flavor or the scent of the absinthe.

George: Unfortunately, that’s all the time we have for this video. There are so many more things to do in downtown Easton and we encourage you to visit discoverlehighvalley.com to get a taste of some of the things you can go out and experience as well.
