Valley Preferred Cycling Center Welcome Mayor Michael Nutter to Corporate Challenge
This Friday, August 9, is the Rodale Corporate Challenge at Valley Preferred Cycling Center. Sixteen area companies will be competing on the track in pursuit style racing, with teams of six representing each company.
The Italian Pursuit style of racing is a time trial that pits two teams against one another on the track. The two teams pursue each other for six laps, one by one dropping off until the last rider in the line remains. The clock stops when the lone rider crosses the finish line, and whoever has the better time wins.
Last year’s winner, Valley Preferred, will look to defend their title against previous winners like Air Products, and Red Robin, among others. In all, a field of fifteen companies will be participating.
The companies include: Valley Preferred 1, 2, and 3, Rodale, Fuji Bikes, Bicycling Magazine, Buckeye 1 and 2, PHL Made, VSAS Orthopedics, PPL Energy 1 and 2, Air Products, First Niagara, and Red Robin BRL.
The night will feature a very special guest to cheer on the riders, one in particular. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will be in attendance at Valley Preferred Cycling Center to support his wife, Lisa, as she rides for the PHL Made team of Philadelphia. “We are honored to have such an important figure in our region in attendance,” said Executive Director Marty Nothstein. “Mayor Nutter has done so many great things for the city of Philadelphia, we are very happy his is making the trip to Valley Preferred Cycling Center.”
Time trials for corporate challenge begin at 7:00 PM Friday and racing begins at 7:30 PM. Gates will open, as always, at 6:00 PM. Australian food and beer selections will be available as well.
