The Waterfront Breaks Ground October 2015
ALLENTOWN, PA – October 20th, 2015 – Developers of “The Waterfront”, a 1,200,000 square foot mixed-use development planned for the western banks of the Lehigh River in Allentown, Pennsylvania, announced today that groundbreaking will formally commence on October 22nd, 2015. The first stage of development will focus on the installation of all underground utilities and streets while concurrently leveling and grading the full twenty-six acres as the development prepares for the construction of Phase I buildings. The site’s infrastructure is anticipated to take approximately eighteen months, though strategic development phasing allows for building construction to occur simultaneously.
The Waterfront development includes plans for six brand new Class A office buildings, three state-of-the-art apartment complexes, a vibrant urban main street lined with new retail and restaurant destinations, three on-site parking garages, a half-mile signature River Walk with direct river access and numerous programmable outdoor plazas and amphitheaters. At full project build-out The Waterfront will be home to 2,900 jobs, 400 apartments, and will offer new recreational and programming opportunities for tenants, residents and visitors alike.
The Waterfront is being developed by Jaindl Properties, LLC, Dunn Twiggar Company, LLC and Michael Dunn Co., LTD, together The Waterfront Development Company. Since the company was formed in January 2012 The Waterfront was completely redesigned, received Phase I final plan approval, recruited the design and development teams for the site as well as numerous buildings, initiated demolition in July 2014 and received approval for it’s initial NIZ Grant in May 2015.
While formal groundbreaking will start on October 22nd, a Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held in early November.

The project’s groundbreaking will be the first step in this process. We look forward to bringing new life and opportunities to this formerly underutilized site.
