The Romantics, John Hodgman, Monroe Martin & TUSK Coming to ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks
BETHELEHEM, PA—Chart-topping new wave band The Romantics, comedian Monroe Martin, Fleetwood Mac tribute band TUSK and writer/comedian John Hodgman are the latest acts announced for the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. Tickets for the shows go on sale May 31 to ArtsQuest Members and June 3 to the public; they’ll be available at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
On July 29, The Romantics will rock the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling. Hailing from Detroit, the group achieved commercial success in 1983 with its album In Heat, which was certified Gold in the U.S. and Canada. The album spawned two Top 40 singles, with the hit “Talking in Your Sleep” peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
New York Times best-selling writer, actor and comedian John Hodgman will present an evening of comedy in the Musikfest Café Nov. 17.
A longtime Resident Expert on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and host of the popular Judge John Hodgman Podcast, Hodgman has also appeared on Conan, The Late Late Show, @midnight and This American Life. After graduating from Yale University, Hodgman launched his comedy career in 2003 and has since written three books, appeared in reoccurring roles on HBO and FX and performed comedy routines at TED conferences and in front of President Barack Obama. In 2009, he was the headline speaker at the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, D.C.
On Sept. 16 in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room, rising comedian Monroe Martin will showcase his ability to turn his childhood experiences into comedic gold through his honest, open approach to storytelling. Martin, a native of Philadelphia, performs across the United States and has appeared on “Last Comic Standing,” The Artie Lange Show” and several Comedy Central shows.
On Nov. 11, the Musikfest Café welcomes TUSK, the “Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band.” Named after Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 album TUSK, this dynamic tribute act features seasoned musicians Kathy Phillips, Scott McDonald, Kim Williams, Randy Artiglere and Tom Nelson recreating Fleetwood Mac classics like “Go Your Own Way,” “Don’t Stop,” The Chain” and more.
