The Moravian Archives and Moravian Historical Society announce the sale of “The Original Moravian Star”
Bethlehem, PA & Nazareth, PA – The Moravian Archives and The Moravian Historical Society are proud to announce the sale of “The Original Moravian Stars”.
The Moravian Star, a well-loved image in Moravian and non-Moravian communities, originated in Herrnhut, Germany in the mid-1800s. To this day, they are still being made by hand in Germany at the Moravian Star Factory. For the first time in the United States, the Moravian Archives and Moravian Historical Society have joined forces with the Moravian Star Factory in Germany to offer stars for sale!
Stars are available for purchase online at www.originalmoravianstars.us or at the Moravian Archives in Bethlehem and the Moravian Historical Society in Nazareth. Available in multiple colors, paper or plastic, these stars begin at $27.95, and can be specially ordered. The proceeds from each purchase support the two organizations’ missions.
Paul Peucker, Archivist for the Moravian Archives stated, “We are proud to bring “The Original Moravian Stars” to the United States. While there are many stars out there for sale, nothing matches the quality of these handmade pieces. They are the perfect wedding, housewarming, or Christmas gift for that person who has everything. Plus, the proceeds benefit the preservation of history: what a great, two-fold gift!”
